Titanic:
I was inspired while watching Titanic, but not by the main characters. Towards the end of the film there's a series of shots of passengers on the Titanic, the ones who haven't managed to get off and have... not given up, exactly, but have accepted their fate. That scene, or sequence if you prefer, always gets me, and this was inspired by that.
